There were a total of five medical missions held in different remote barangays of El Nido this year serving hundreds of our less fortunate co-humans in the rural communities of the municipality. Today, we conducted our final mission for this year in the barangay immediately next to our hospital.
It was Ejii-sama’s birthday, so I had every reason to strip myself off of the usual lazy aura and proceed to the modus that I have been concocting inside the confines of my mind for the past few days.
I start the day with a cup of tea. Black. A teaspoon full of sugar. A generous dash of milk. Once I’m done preparing my morning beverage, I will then stare at the complexity of the urban jungle beyond my balcony. It’ll be then that I’d realize that it has been a long, perilous way to get to where I am standing right now.
